The Federal budget had several highlights for the Ag sector.

The budget is committing more money to improve cattle processing facilities by investing $75 million over three years to ensure that producers have access to competitive cattle slaughter operations.  The funding under the slaughter improvement program is being increased by $10 million.

The budget is also allocating $75 million for innovation related to specified risk material removal, and also includes close to $52 million to support the continued operation of the Canadian Grain Commission.
